Seasons of the Sun

A golden warmth gushed through my tender leaves
Diamond dew drops cascaded off with the breeze
A wafting scent of blossoms pervaded my being
The voice of the birds soared with the tune of spring
Draped in green, bejewelled with life and spirit
I basked in a luxury that to a monarch would befit
Alas the sun of fortune would not infinitely shine
For He too has to keep a promise divine.

As greater darkness upon me drew
A spine chilling wind from yonder blew
My precious leaves, lifeless, departed one by one
My strife against adversity had now begun.
As I struggled against inclement times
Some fair feathered friends left for warmer climes
While some steadfast ones nested in my heart
Even as my defences were falling apart

My skeletal branches implored heavenwards for mercy
To end this horrendous state as a bad reverie
A celestial snow descended to clothe my bareness
And the song of life twittered through the distress.
A dawn of wisdom, true warmth permeated
I realized reason as I quietly ruminated
Fortune and doom are seasons a changing
True companions persist even after spring.

Hmm..:D..
Interesting...tying in friendship with the changing seasons + tree...
For some reason this poem reminds me of JRR Tolkein...

Actually when you are doing well in life you don't need any friends..but many people would like to know you.
Only when the stuff hits the fan do you really need to be supported..

OMG... Ramani nooooooo.... you just delivered a deadly insult to Kk! You said her poem reminded you of JRR! I'll pray for your soul.

In your afterlife, may you,Oh dude known to us as Ramani carry with you what is precious to us all: reverence for all life, beauty that displays itself in love, deep, abiding peace. And may the love of truth guide you in your journey to heaven. Amen.

The worship of the gathered community is now ended.Go in peace. Go in joy. Go in love to share.Amen.
( Vc makes the sign of V )

Its so cold in here.. i think its that poem of kk's..So who's got the Vodka ?? and the chablis wine ? Poor Ramani .. may his soul rest in peace...Let's take a moment now to reflect on what we should not be doing on this blog...

Did you notice that you used " seasons" in 3 of your posts..
What's with that ???

Hmm Ramani. I don't know whether that was meant to be a compliment or an insult!
I don't know about your line of thinking, but I believe that I'd rather spend my good and prosperous times with my family and friends. I am having a whale of a time here and there is just one thing I wish for: my family and friends to share it. So its not like you don't need friends when you are doing well in life.

SP,
Is it an insult? Tell me why?

Vc,
Thank you for that elegy: it was a wonderful charade. You will make a great priest! Ever considered that as a career option?
Yep the seasons have been the theme of my last three posts. There is always inspiration peeking behind every leaf, descending in every snow flake: you just need to catch a glance of it to feel it tickle the creative senses! It's the same with rain and wind: see my previous poems.

Because you hate that guy. After all, he's the creator of contemporary fantasy fiction whose discussions you've had to endure thanks to me and Vc!

[kirthi] no no..it was neither a compliment or an insult!!!..
i have this really bad habit of stating sentences like..
' you have no idea what to do' meaning..
'A person would have no idea what to do'..
What I was trying to say is that you need family and friends most when life is being a little hard..
Of course you want them all the time..
[prashanth and vc] he he...
[kirthi] one more 'seasons'..and you can start a hotel..the 4 seasons..he he (*wishes the readers to wish him luck, prays hard and fervently for deliverance*)

SP,
Hmm hmm so I am supposed to feel offended by a statement which would have been a compliment had it been said to u or Vc. Ok grrrr.

Ramani,
Now you are mistaken that I mistook your statement. I fully understand that by 'you' you meant a population which may or may not include me. And btw I have the same bad habit of using 'you' as a generic term for people. And if you just noticed the last statement in my previous comment just proves that! Unfortunately, you have further misinterpreted my statement about myself. That was intended to be an example. Now I know I have knotted the whole thing up with lots of 'u's and 'me's!! Don't bother to decipher it :)
What I really objected to was when you said 'one' doesn't need friends and family during the good times. The truth is 'one' does.
And why a hotel? Ok now I am down to butchering and dissecting your joke. But honestly I didn't get it!

Vc,
Well u can explain it to me can't u...now Vc does a Joey tribiani by laughing at the joke first and then asking SP what was so funny!!

Vc said...

Joey style " How u doin ?"

Artful Badger said...

No. There is a very famous chain of hotels called the '4 Seasons'. Hence the joke!!
No, one always need to have friends and family in life to be sane. The good times feel better, the bad times feel less worse. But, when you need them most is when life isn't working out for you. I feel atleast.

Haha Ramani,
You are not going to believe this! We just had a misunderstanding at our work place because of the generic usage of 'you'. X said in an email ' We have found out that you can run the job pqr'. Y interpreted that as I should be running the job pqr. It took me 15 minutes to explain that it is not my job to run the job and that 'you' wasn't meant to mean me!!
Well, about your view on it, I guess it all depends on the level of attachment or detachment to the family.
